Sweet Treats
Christmas time simply means biscuits in any form. We reveal Grandma's recipe for first-class biscuits.
Grandmas Recipes
At Christmas time, many kitchens are transformed into little bakeries. Young and old alike are busy kneading and moulding like elves to sweeten the cold season a little.
Our employees also bake delicious Christmas biscuits at home. After a little persuasion, our reservations manager was persuaded to reveal her old family recipe to us so that we could share it with you here. We wish you happy biscuit baking and bon appétit!
Brown cake biscuits
Take butter or margarine, the dark and light-coloured syrup and sugar, mix everything together until the ingredients are completely dissolved. Then add the eggs, flour, bicarbonate of soda and brown cake spice and knead vigorously until a smooth dough is formed. The finished dough must now rest for a while. Our tip: If you leave it to rest in a cool place for several days, the biscuits will be particularly fluffy.
After the resting phase, the dough only needs to be rolled out thinly and cut out into lots of Christmas shapes. Spread the stars, Christmas trees and Father Christmases on a baking tray and place in the oven at 180 °C (fan oven) for approx. 10 minutes. When the biscuits are lightly browned, they are ready.
Ingredients:
- 500 g butter or margarine
- 500 g dark syrup
- 250 g light-coloured syrup
- 500 g sugar
- Brown cake spice
- 4 eggs
- 1500 g flour
- 3 tsp baking soda
Christmas biscuits
The biscuits made according to our sales manager's recipe are just as quick to make and simply delicious. All the ingredients are mixed thoroughly until all the lumps have dissolved. The dough then needs to rest in the fridge for about an hour before it can be rolled out.
Then the biscuits just need to be cut out and, just like the brown cake biscuits, baked in the oven at 180 °C (fan oven) for about 10 minutes. When the biscuits look golden yellow, they are ready.
Ingredients:
- 750 g flour
- 500 g butter
- 250 g icing sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 sachet baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
